Councillor Linda Thomas is Leader of Bolton Council.

Her GMCA responsibility is Culture, Arts and Leisure.

She has been a councillor for thirty years and was first elected in 1988 in Westhoughton ward, later going on to serve Halliwell ward which she has represented since 1995.

Since joining the Local Government Association in 2007, Cllr Thomas has represented the voice of councils nationally across a range of portfolios. She is currently vice chair of LGA Community Wellbeing Board.

Cllr Thomas has been Deputy Leader of Bolton Council since 2006 and has held responsibility for Corporate resources, adult services, education and health. She is also chair of Bolton’s Health and Wellbeing Board.

Bolton boasts the largest logistics site in the North West of England; the innovative University of Bolton campus; one of the finest Egyptology collections in the UK; a unique retail and leisure offer at the historic Market Place Shopping Centre; and the North West’s biggest Food and Drink Festival, annually showcasing the best of Bolton, to crowds from far and wide.
