Dr Douglas Chalmers, is an economist by profession, and currently works as senior lecturer in Media and Journalism at Glasgow Caledonian University. Vice President of the University and College Union, Douglas is also the immediate past president of UCU Scotland, and in a previous life was the secretary of the Campaign for a Scottish Parliament and an executive member of the Scottish Constitutional Convention. His current area of research concerns the economic and social impact of lesser used languages in Europe.
