Dr Trevor Jarvis BEM

Trevor was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2001 and has since spoken at the Alzheimer’s Society national conferences on younger people with dementia, been an active committee member for a self-help group for younger people with dementia in Doncaster, and is an active member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Consumer Group. Trevor spoke at the 2011 Dementia Congress and he has been involved in the Champion Group for Dementia Friendly Communities, as part of the Prime Minister’s Challenge on Dementia. In July 2013 Trevor was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Bradford in recognition of his work for people living with dementia and he was also awarded a British Empire Medal in The New Year’s Honours 2014 for campaigning to improve the lives of people affected by dementia.
