George Day is Head of Markets, Policy & Regulation at the Energy Systems Catapult, responsible for a wide range of energy policy and regulation issues across its portfolio. This includes a project to assess options for improving the consistency of decarbonisation incentives across the whole UK energy system, drawing on the Catapult’s capability in whole energy system analysis.
George spent 6 years as Head of Economic Strategy at the Energy Technologies Institute, working on policy and business models across a range of low carbon technologies, including carbon capture and storage, bioenergy and light transport. This included advising both BEIS and the Committee on Climate Change.
Before joining ETI in 2011, George was a senior director of Ofwat leading many aspects of water sector regulatory policy. During the 1990’s he worked extensively on agricultural markets and trade with governments in south Asia and Southern Africa.
