Mark came to Teesside in 1978 to what was then ICI. He joined the Process Industry Cluster NEPIC in 2006, involved with Industrial Symbiosis and productivity improvement. Since 2015 he has been working in what is now the Tees Valley Combined Authority, developing the Teesside Collective as an industrial Carbon Capture & Storage network in the UK. His focus now is  working to show how the region can underpin achieving the UK’s decarbonisation goals through  industrial symbiosis, district heating, energy storage and particularly the use of hydrogen in transport and heat applications.
