Sean has headed up the Royal College of Midwives Policy Unit since its formation in 2003. In that time the Policy Unit has played a key role in campaigning and lobbying for increased resources and staffing for maternity services across the UK as well as promoting the involvement of midwives in governance and strategic decision-making. Sean had previously been employed as the RCM’s Employment Relations Advisor, a post he first took up on joining the RCM in 1995.

Before his employment with the RCM, Sean’s background was in employment relations, having worked for Unison (and before that Nalgo).
