Facing the Future

Facing the Future is a partnership project between Samaritans and Cruse Bereavement Care, funded by the Department of Health, to deliver support groups for people bereaved by suicide across six pilot sites in England: Devon, Coventry, Tyneside, East Sussex, Yorkshire and Essex.

Our support groups are completely free, limited to a maximum of eight people and delivered for six consecutive weeks. Groups are co-facilitated by one Samaritans volunteer and one Cruse volunteer, who provide the specialism in suicide prevention and bereavement. This enables people bereaved by suicide to share their experiences with others who have also lost someone to suicide in a safe and confidential space.

Bereaved people eligible to attend will be over 18, bereaved by suicide, and bereaved for more than three months. People don’t have to live in the area where the support group takes place.
