She provides research and practice based support and advice to front line practitioners: such as the police, social care, health services and third sector specialist services. Prior to her role at SafeLives, Deidre managed the Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (Idva) Services at Survive in South Gloucestershire. From 2012-2015, Deidre worked as a qualified Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (Idva) in east London and South Gloucestershire/Bristol. As an IDVA, Deidre specialised in working within the Specialist Domestic Violence Courts and Accident & Emergency. In 2011, Deidre completed her Master of Economics (MSc) in Latin American Politics. Her MSc dissertation analysed how indigenous women in Oaxaca Mexico accessed judicial remedies against domestic violence in a multi-cultural and judicially pluralistic system. Deidre’s MSc inspired her to work directly with people experiencing domestic violence and abuse..
