A clinical pharmacist by background, Devina was appointed as an Accountable Officer for Controlled Drugs for NHS England in 2014 and has worked in healthcare for nearly 30 years. She qualified from the University of Toronto in Canada before moving to the UK and focussing on commissioning and governance of primary and community healthcare. She earned her PhD for defining healthcare quality and designing and validating a suite of quality indicators. Devina is known for blending her governance and clinical expertise with her academic specialisms to improve safety in healthcare. She has been an expert witness at coroners’ and criminal courts, has co-authored peer reviewed papers and national reports, and has been invited to deliver presentations at influential national and international conferences.
