Dr Esther Cohen-Tovee (@DrEstherCT) is the Chair of the British Psychological Society’s Division of Clinical Psychology, BPS Co-Chair of the APPTS (Accreditation Programme for Psychological Therapy Services) Project Board, and Clinical Director of Psychological Services at Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust.
Esther is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and has worked in leadership and management positions in the NHS since 1996, alongside clinical work with adults with mental health problems. Esther was the North-East regional lead for the National Audits of Psychological Therapies for Anxiety and Depression and BPS representative on the DH-Care Pathways and Packages Quality and Outcomes Group. Esther recently represented the BPS on the NHS England mental health outcomes Clinical Reference Group, and is a sponsor of the BPS – New Savoy Partnership staff wellbeing survey and charter project. Having jointly led the development of a new accreditation programme for psychological therapies services as a partnership scheme between the BPS and the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Centre for Quality Improvement, together with Service User representatives, Esther continues to be the BPS co-chair of APPTS (www.appts.org.uk).
