Dr Sam Parsons
  • Bio

Sam Parsons is a Principal Research Fellow in the UCL Social Research Institute. Her earlier research focused on antecedents and consequences of poor adult basic skills using the 1958 and 1970 British birth cohort studies. More recent research has involved the younger Next Steps and Millennium Cohort Study generations and remains centred around disadvantage: the relationship between parental worklessness and child outcomes; trajectories and transitions in the behavioural and educational development of disabled children; their experiences of loneliness and social isolation. She is currently researching the intergenerational transmission of disadvantage among care-experienced parents and their children.
