Lyn Parsons is a registered nurse with 32 years’ experience in the NHS, working in management roles in Acute and Community settings. Since 2011, Lyn has worked in the field of Looked After Children’s Nursing, initially delivering front line care to this vulnerable group and since 2014, influencing the commissioning of health services for this group as a Designated Looked After Children’s Nurse at NHS Coventry and Rugby Clinical Commissioning Group. Lyn has been seconded to NHS England National Safeguarding Team since December 2016 as Project Manager for Unwarranted Variation, to share her expertise to improve the health outcomes for these children. She has authored ‘A Guide to meeting the health needs of Looked After Children through a Standard Approach to Commissioning and Service Delivery’ which aims to translate the science outlined in statutory guidance into the art of service delivery producing a suite of commissioning and service delivery examples of best practice. Lyn is a passionate advocate and health ambassador for looked after children.
