Martin has been a registered mental health nurse for the past 31 years, he has spent much of his career working with and advising about the care of individuals living with dementia.  Previous projects have included manging a Kings Fund support Nursing Development Unit for individuals with dementia and training health professionals about managing behaviours that are perceived to be problematic.  For the last 12 years he has been a university lecture in mental health, having a particular focus on the care of older people with mental health problems and men’s mental health.  He is currently engaged in an HEE funded PhD focussing upon the use of the validation approach by staff in NHS settings.
