Perry Timms

Perry is known for his energy, passion and insight around the world of people and work – particularly what lies in the future. He is a Chartered Member of the CIPD and Visiting Fellow at Sheffield Hallam Business School.

Perry is Vice Chair of the Northamptonshire CIPD branch and also lectures on HRM at UK and international universities.

His career has journeyed through public and not-for-profit sector HR covering technology & business change, learning, talent and OD for over 20 years and for the last two+ years as an independent practitioner (or ‘selfie’) aiming to change the world of work – one conversation at a time.

Perry is active on all social media platforms and was voted Top 10 in People Management magazine’s HR tweeters and bloggers for 2012 and 2013 (@PerryTimms on Twitter).  He is currently the Adviser to the CIPD on Social Media and Engagement and was a Guide for the CIPD’s ‘Hackathon’: an online, open-source innovation platform to create new practices, processes and protocols fir for a modern workplace.  Perry also managed the build of the CIPD’s first MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) Working Digitally: Social Media and HR (www.cipd.co.uk/mooc)

Perry has advised and helped several companies take their steps into the social media world including River Island, Anglian Water; WorldBlu; Birmingham City Council, Marston’s Brewery, University of Salford; Coral Racing; Camden Council, Lewisham Homes; Mission Foods and Cambridge University Press.

Perry is also an international speaker on change and the Future of Work & HR plus the use of digital and social technologies in that mix. Perry made his TEDx debut in Bucharest in November 2014.  A regular writer and blogger for a wide range of organisations (Glassdoor, UKCES) HR publications (HR Zone, Training Journal) and conferences.  Perry has been a feature of the last 6 years’ CIPD Annual and L&D conferences.

Perry started a global learning community of practitioners and is now leading 4 spin-offs into research & innovation, education, digital technology and partnerships.  The iPractice is a virtual organisation creating alternative models for business and work based on the WorldBlu freedom at work principles and Frederic Laloux’s Teal Organisation model.  Perry’s values are Respect; Autonomy; Growth, Hope and Happiness.   A tenacious reader; an enthused networker and a voracious learner, Perry describes himself as a lifeaholic.
