Philip Mcvay has been working with Looked after Children in Residential care since 1995. Falling in love with the job, Philip worked as a residential Care Worker and a registered care manager before opening his own residential care company in 2000, with the aim of raising standards and outcomes for children and young people. With his Business Partner Amanda Knowles MBE the company expanded from one to 13 homes of which 8 were outstanding and 5 good at the point he decided to take a new direction. During the last 6 years Philip has devoted his time further developing Clearcare an online management system for children’s social care settings. Clearcare is now the largest recording and reporting system in use in residential children’s homes in the UK with over 600 homes using the secure system to keep records safe for almost 2000 children. Philip is passionate about raising the standards of care, and see’s electronic recording, reporting and information sharing as being integral to that aspiration.
