Jonathan Grant is Director of the Policy Institute at King’s College London and Professor of Public Policy. His main research interests are on R&D policy and the use of research and evidence in policy and decision making. The aim of the Policy Institute is to improve evidence-informed policy and practice by facilitating mutual engagement between academic, business and policy communities around current and future policy needs in the UK and globally. Recently, Jonathan was the lead investigator of a study that synthesized the impact case studied from the UK Research Excellence Framework (http://www.hefce.ac.uk/media/HEFCE,2014/Content/Pubs/Independentresearch/2015/Analysis,of,REF,impact/Analysis_of_REF_impact.pdf) and in 2014 he led a project estimating the economic returns from cancer-related research in the UK (http://www.biomedcentral.com/1741-7015/12/99).

Jonathan was formerly President of RAND Europe and Head of Policy at the Wellcome Trust. He also is co-founder Chair of the International School on Research Impact Assessment (http://www.theinternationalschoolonria.com/).
