Richard has spent the majority of his career in the private sector, working for a variety of blue-chip companies including Mars Ltd, 20th Century Fox, and most recently Procter & Gamble, with whom he spent a total of 13 years. He first moved into the public sector in 2013 when he joined Herefordshire CCG as a programme manager, working on a transformation programme to modify and improve services at Wye Valley Trust. This paved the way to his current position with NHS England as a Programme Manager within the central primary care commissioning operations team, taking a lead for the optometry sector. His workstreams include responsibility for improving IT connectivity between secondary care and primary care services, transforming commissioning services, and setting the strategic direction for enhanced services; prioritising people with learning disabilities and autism. Richard works in close partnership with the profession to ensure the best outcomes for all stakeholders is achieved.
