Ruth Driscoll is Head of Policy and Public Services at the National Council for Voluntary Organisations. She leads NCVO’s work on public services, charity finance and regulation, and Compact Voice. Ruth has a decade’s experience of senior level working in policy and research for overseas development organisations. Most recently, she led the Department for International Development’s efforts to ensure research evidence is taken up by policy-makers and practitioners. Prior to this, she worked as a Research Fellow at the Overseas Development Institute, specialising in national planning and budget processes in sub-Saharan Africa, as Special Adviser to a Secretary of State for International Development, and head of parliamentary and public campaigning at UNICEF UK. Ruth is also a trustee for the Southwark Common Good Trust, a Samaritans volunteer, and a primary school governor in East London.
