Urshla Devalia (Oosh) is a Paediatric Dental Consultant working at the Eastman Dental Hospital, UCLH, London. She is also Clinical Policy Lead for NHS England & Improvement at the Office of the Chief Dental Officer, leading on the oral health initiative for children and young people with learning difficulties and/or autism in residential special education settings, as part of the NHS Long Term Plan. This program is part of the overall sensory initiative working alongside audiology and optometry.

Oosh is the National Lead for Mini Mouth Care Matters, an initiative aimed at ensuring mouth care is integrated with general health, and is an essential part of daily hygiene routine. She is also a Trustee and board member of the Executive Committee for the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (BSPD). She represents BSPD at the All Party Parliamentary Group on a Fit and Healthy Childhood, regularly attending meetings at the House of Commons and contributing to a number of briefing papers to improve health and social care for children and young people across the UK.

Oosh works closely with Health Education England as a subject matter expert on a number of areas associated with children’s oral health. Her primary focus is on the management of vulnerable patient groups, including those with learning disabilities and/or autism, and those with complex medical needs.
