Sam has been the Charity Manager of UMHAN since 2019. During this time, she has co-authored several pieces of sector guidance, such as the recently published “Clinical Governance for Mental Health Services in Education”. She represents UMHAN’s 600+ members and their work with students in crisis and with mental health conditions at multiple levels. She is a current member of the Disabled Students Stakeholder Group, and is on the advisory board for several key research projects into student mental health.
She previously worked in Student Support services at the University of Birmingham, managing the student Disability Service.
She is the Safeguarding Lead Governor at King Edwards Camp Hill School for Boys in Birmingham and a volunteer for Shout, the text crisis service.
Sam also has personal interest and experience in young people's mental health and special educational needs.
