Bernard Fleming
  • Bio

Bernard Fleming is the Information Manager at Research Autism. He is responsible for the website and inquiry service. This means that he researches and writes most of the information on the website www.researchautism.net and also deals with any inquiries from the general public.
Before joining Research Autism, Bernard spent twenty years in various other disability charities – including RNIB, the Mental Health Foundation, and the Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities – where he developed and ran a number of very successful information services. He also served on the editorial board of NHS Direct for 5 years.
Bernard is the co-author of “Choosing Autism Interventions: A Research-Based Guide”. This is a book which provides an accessible evidence-based overview of the most commonly used interventions for people on the autism spectrum. It summarises best clinical practice from NICE and gives a set of tools to help you evaluate interventions for yourself. It is the first guide of its kind to meet the requirements of the NHS Information Standard.
