Dr Hilary Causer

Hilary Causer is a research fellow at the University of Surrey. She is a qualitative researcher in the field of workplace wellbeing, taking a specific focus on the impact of suicide within teams, workplaces and organisations. Most recently Hilary worked on the impact of colleague suicide on NHS workers, and previously on the impact of student suicide on staff in UK Universities. This research has contributed to two sets of Postvention guidance (for the Higher Education sector and for the NHS); a film; a book chapter; editorials and a range or academic articles. Hilary is currently working with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers who are exploring nurse suicide through a feminist, critical suicidology lens. Prior to her research career Hilary worked in the third and public sectors in child protection and mental health settings, delivering front line support services and leading on team wellbeing and culture.
