Huw has worked in education for over 20 years, working across secondary settings in mainstream, special and PRU education; most recently running a PRU and Special School for SEMH Pupils. He has held numerous positions on senior leadership teams, and was responsible for behaviour and attendance in each. He has worked with some of the most challenging young people in areas of high deprivation and low aspirations, working tirelessly to break down barriers; helping pupils to access further education and to promote a more inclusive attitude towards education and in reducing exclusions. Huw believes that all schools and colleges should be a safe, happy and positive experience for all pupils; especially those who have been removed from mainstream education, along with parents, carers and staff, so that everyone can work together to achieve their full potential. Having delivered and implemented Pivotal training in his own school, and seeing first-hand the impact Pivotal had on behaviour and attendance, Huw believes that investing in Pivotal approaches, now woven into Classroom Culture, and sharing values encourages a collective and dedicated response.
