John is the Head of Systems Thinking and Customer Access at Wiltshire Council, where he has spent the last 13 years working on designing services around customers.

During John’s career he has worked as a front line health worker to deliver community and acute hospital care, managed communications and development for an international charity, and managed a change consultancy practice in a UK-based process/ICT outsourcing company.

John is the workstream lead for Service Redesign and Automation in the council’s Digital programme.

The Wiltshire Council Systems Thinking team of 14 practitioners leads redesign work across all the council’s services and Wiltshire Police, as well as in other public sector partners. The team’s current major areas of work are in children’s safeguarding services, adult social care, and operational policing; there is increasing work on where the whole system’s services for vulnerable people meet together.

The team also delivers hands-on ‘immersion’ courses in the systems thinking approach.
