Liz has worked in the refugee sector for over 15 years, supporting refugees and asylum seekers in paid and voluntary roles, operational and strategic, including as a trustee for PAFRAS in Leeds supporting destitute asylum seekers for 10 years.
Since 2016 Liz has been an Integration & Partnerships Officer with Migration Yorkshire - supporting Local Authorities and other key partners to manage migration positively for the benefit of all, on issues such as asylum dispersal. Liz was also ESOL Regional Coordinator for Yorkshire & Humber as part of the Syrian Resettlement Programme, including the development of the regional ‘Learning English in Yorkshire & Humber’ online resource to improve access to ESOL, and the national ESOL for Refugees Commissioner’s Toolkit.
Liz is currently coordinating the Regional Refugee Integration Forum, engaging a wide range of sector leaders and key stakeholders to promote refugee integration across the region, bringing the region’s new Refugee Integration Strategy to life
