Noel undertook a post graduate qualification as a therapist in 1996 and has been licensed ever since. Noel himself is in recovery from alcoholism and addiction; having suffered from PTSD Noel has now been clean for 10 years.
Today, he runs a very successful Psychotherapy and Consultancy business, providing concierge level health and social care plans which support clients and families struggling with a number of problems including depression, addiction, trauma, eating disorders and more. Many of these families have members in multiple countries and the company specialises in co-ordinating services internationally. Noel’s service is unique, discreet and with his team he takes care in sourcing and managing all the professionals a client may need to help them into stable recovery - from psychiatrists and nutritionists to domestic staff and personal trainers.
Earlier this year, Noel launched Sober Help Ltd - supporting the recovery industry. The company offers a bespoke ethical service for the individual and provides long term community-based care for recovery from addictions.
Evidence shows that outcomes can be greatly improved with the right support plan. Noel is a firm believer in care plans for people with complex needs, these programmes focus on providing treatment in clients’ homes and communities. Where possible, care plans are designed to prevent admission to hospital or into residential rehab facilities and, if admission is necessary, discharge and recovery is carefully planned to reduce the possibility of a relapse occurring.
As a public speaker, thought leader and trainer, Noel provides opportunities for practising health and social care professionals to develop their brands and become successful in the increasingly personalised health and social care markets. He is regularly invited to speak at conferences, run workshops and is in the process of publishing a series of e-books.
Noel recently joined Men’s Radio Station as a regular presenter and launched ‘Well-being Wednesdays with Noel McDermott’. He will be hosting a weekly 90-minute show discussing topical mental health issues. Every week Noel will be joined by an expert guest who will, alongside Noel, deliver a show that provides listeners with practical advice and information for improving their own mental health.
Noel McDermott also offers counselling, advice and support to individuals, couples, families and groups using tailored approaches drawing from diverse experience and training, including cognitive behavioural, psycho-dynamic, arts based and drama therapies.
