Sergio Lopez Figueroa is the founder of Humming in Harmony. Also known as the Humming Man  he is a social entrepreneur and creative leader passionate about systemic change. With a professional background as a filmmaker, music teacher for special needs, pianist, composer and visual artist he advocates for holistic solutions to mental health and emotional wellbeing in education, health care, businesses and communities. Polyhum is an innovative  mindfulness practise  which promotes the use of multiple frequency polyphonic humming interaction and active listening to allow individuals to discharge emotions safely. Aiming to establish meaningful relationships with oneself and others in addition to deeper connection with the physical environment, Polyhum is a simple method to tackle loneliness and behavioural  problems and communication issues related to the influence of technology and digital divide.

By empowering the individual  to practise active empathy, resilience and self care, humming helps users to develop social inclusion and creative competences, improving communication as well as emotional intelligence as an added value. Through interventions, workshops, wellbeing concerts and a future mindfulness app Sergio is re-starting his own recovery journey following a diagnosis of prostate cancer in 2018. He is interested to introduce humming mindfulness in schools and colleges including students, teachers and parents whilst establishing links with research centres in the field of neuroscience, music and acoustics to run peer led projects with the user at the centre in order to measure health benefits and cost effective impact of humming in real life scenarios.
