Skills for Care is the strategic workforce development and planning body for adult social care in England.

Our role is to work across the whole system to understand the key drivers of workforce change, using insight, data, and evidence. We provide managers and those involved in the delivery of social care with guidance on best practice, tools,

resources, and intelligence to support workforce recruitment, capabilities, and culture. This combination of strategic and operational activity is the cornerstone of our reach and insight into the sector.

With over half a million adult social care workers supporting people living with autism or a learning disability in England, it's important that the workforce has the right values, skills, and knowledge to provide high quality, person-centred care and support now and in the future. We work with employers, Government, and partners to do this.

We worked in partnership to develop a Core Capabilities Framework for supporting autistic people and one for supporting people with a learning disability. Both frameworks set out the skills and knowledge that health and social care workers need to deliver high-quality care and support, and which should be at the heart of effective training.
