The Positive Planner came into existence in 2017 after a successful crowdfunded campaign. The co-owners, Ali and Finn, had gone through a phase of low mental health, and during that time, they found journaling to be an effective positive habit. Since then, they have been eager to share the benefits of journaling with the world. Throughout the years, we have been promoting the habit of journaling by providing innovative products such as our bright and thought-provoking journals and stationery. Our journals are designed with prompts so that even those who feel that they cannot journal are able to stay consistent and guided in their journey of personal development.

Mental health is a topic that affects each one of us at some point in our lives. Here at The Positive Planner we aim to create a community that represents support and acceptance towards mental health issues. Unfortunately, mental health is still a topic that is often avoided and ignored by those in leadership positions. Our goal is to change that. We now work with institutions around the globe to empower, assist and encourage conversations around mental health. We hope to encourage an integrated journaling approach for both staff and students that helps people to express themselves and find support through their own exploration on the page.

In 2022, we introduced The Positive Student Planner, which is the first journal and planner entirely dedicated to student well-being. We co-created it in collaboration with Samaritans, one of the UK's leading mental health charities, as well as Dr. Dominique Thompson, an expert in student mental health. This 12-week planner provides students with a screen-free approach to handle the challenges that they face in today's world.

In today's digital world, screens have become an integral part of our lives. However, we believe that using an analogue approach to writing can help forge connections in the brain that technology cannot replicate. The Positive Student Planner is designed to focus on promoting self-awareness by offering features like mood tracking, budget planning, and creative well-being. We believe that this emphasis on personal growth and self-care is important for encouraging independent living and fostering positive mindsets. Practising gratitude can also have a significant impact on our mental health, and we aim to bring attention to this practice through our products.

Therapeutic writing is a powerful and underrated tool in educational settings, we believe that taking a moment of reflection can stimulate a growth mindset and invite solution-focused thinking that can help aid coping strategies and even be a precursor to asking for help when needed.
