Consultant Connect is a simple telecoms initiative enabling GPs and other clinicians to obtain advice from local specialty consultants via mobile phone. The service tracks activity and retains a medico-legal record of the call. Currently operating in 40+ CCG areas and 35+ Hospital Trusts, the system is connecting 50,000+ calls p.a., in an average of under 45 seconds. The service is currently used in elective, urgent and mental health care settings.
