Malcolm is Director of the Telehealth Quality Group (TQG) and Senior Research Fellow at De Montfort University (DMU) Leicester. In these roles he promotes new ways of harnessing technologies in relation to people’s health and well-being. His related activities include being a Quality Standards Advisory Committee member for NICE; advisor to the Welsh Government on Housing an Ageing Population; and representing ANEC (the European Consumer Voice on Standardisation) on several CEN standards committees. In addition he was for over four years Welsh Government appointed Chair of the National Partnership Forum for Older People.
Currently Malcolm (for DMU) leads the new European Commission PROGRESSIVE project on ‘Standards around ICT for Active and Healthy Ageing’ that will be giving attention to health and care issues, accessible homes and environments, telehealth and telecare. He is also (for the TQG) undertaking a review for Pobal, the Irish government agency, of the operational model of their ‘Seniors Alert Scheme’. Malcolm is widely published in the telehealth, telecare, social care and housing fields and is a frequent speaker at UK and international events.
